Siya's POV
The moment I was out of sight, I ran.
My legs barely held me up as I pushed open the door to the restroom and slammed it shut behind me.
Locking the stall, I pressed my back to the cold wall, slid down to the floor, and finally let go.
The sobs came in waves-loud, broken, choking.
My heart wasn't just hurt-it was shattered.
For the entire summer, I believed... I truly believed someone could love me.
That I mattered.
That I could be seen.
But it was all a lie.
A cruel, heartless joke played on the quiet, invisible girl who should've known better.
I hugged my knees, trying to make myself smaller, when I heard the restroom door creak open.
The sound of heels clicked against the tiles, followed by giggles.
"I'm still in shock about what happened on the ground today," a girl said, half-laughing.
"Seriously! It was like a scene straight out of a bad teen drama," another added.
"I swear, I couldn't stop laughing. Like, how delulu can someone be to end up a clown in real life?"
More laughter.
I held my breath.
"Has she even seen herself?" a third voice chimed in, her tone sharp with disgust.
"How did she even dare to think she could breathe the same air as Ryan?"
A fourth voice, amused and cruel:
"Forget the air-she actually believed Ryan texted her."
They all laughed.
I wanted to disappear.
But more than that, I wanted to scream.
Because what they didn't know... was that I still had the messages.
The voice notes.
The pictures.
The calls.
Whoever tricked me, they knew Ryan so well-they became him.
And maybe, just maybe, I wasn't the fool they thought I was.

Siya's POV
I stayed curled up, silent, barely breathing-waiting for them to leave so I could slip away unnoticed, vanish like the joke they thought I was.
That's when another girl spoke up, her voice curious but amused:
"Wait... wasn't she your best friend last summer?"
My heart stopped.
I didn't need to peek to know who they were talking to.
Sarah Johnson.
The girl I once called my best friend.
The girl who smiled at me while stealing everything I held dear.
"Yeah, she was," Sarah replied casually, her voice as sugar-coated as ever.
"But she's always been like this... a wannabe. No friends, always clinging. I tried to be nice. Thought maybe she was misunderstood."
She gave a theatrical sigh.
"Big mistake. She tried to snatch my boyfriend. When I confronted her, she actually had the nerve to say he loved her. Can you imagine?"
Their gasps and giggles followed like a cruel chorus.
"He told me himself-he thought of her like a sister. But she went crazy. Hit me. Trust me, she's a lunatic."
And just like that, I was a villain in her fairytale lie.
The obsessive. The traitor. The girl who tried to steal what never belonged to her.
The truth?
She was the one who betrayed me.
He chose her.
And I was the fool left with nothing.
But what hurt the most wasn't the lies.
It was that even after everything, some small, desperate part of me still thought Sarah might defend me.
Tell them to stop.
Remember we were once something close to sisters.
But instead, she fed them poison.
And they drank it like it was truth.
I pressed my forehead to my knees.
Let them think what they want.
Let them laugh.
Ryan's POV
We were all lounging around the court after practice, sweat still clinging to our skin, the familiar rhythm of bouncing balls and echoing footsteps filling the air.
But my mind?
It wasn't here.
It was still stuck on the trembling voice from this morning.
"I'm Siya Sharma. The one you talked to the whole summer."
Lucas broke the silence first.
"What do you think, Ryan? Was she telling the truth?"
Before I could even open my mouth, Jake scoffed from the side, shaking his head.
"Obviously she was lying. Come on, Lucas, are you seriously still thinking about that?"
He leaned forward, tossing his towel onto the bench.
"All three of us were together the entire summer, remember? Trips, training, everything. Do you think Ryan had time to secretly date someone like... her?"
He paused, making sure to emphasize the her with that smug little smirk of his.
"I mean, no offense, but you know the difference I'm talking about. The gap. It's obvious."
I didn't say anything.
Not yet.
Jake always said what he thought without thinking-like his words didn't weigh anything.
But to me, they suddenly felt heavy.
Lucas looked at me then. Not accusing, not judging-just... observing.
"Doesn't matter what she looks like," he said, cool and calm.
"If someone used Ryan's name and made her believe something real-then it's not her fault. It's someone else's game."
I stared down at my shoes.
That's the part that wouldn't leave me alone.
What if she wasn't lying?
What if someone actually used me to ruin her?
And why did a part of me feel responsible... even when I had nothing to do with it?
Just as the tension hung heavy between Ryan, Lucas, and Jake, footsteps echoed from the corridor-and suddenly, Katherine, Ryan's younger sister, came sprinting toward them.
Her face was flushed, her breathing fast, and her eyes wide with urgency.
"Ryan!" she called, not slowing until she was right in front of them.
It's true. What she said-it's all true!"
