The three boys froze.
“What?" Ryan asked, standing up.
"What do you mean true?" Jake scoffed.
"Kathy, don't get carried away-"
"No, Jake, shut up for once!" she snapped, eyes never leaving Ryan.
"I saw it. I saw the messages. Her phone was left in the restroom after everyone left, and... I saw the chats. It was your name, your pictures-everything."
Ryan's brows furrowed.
Lucas leaned in, curiosity sharp now.
"You're saying someone used Ryan's identity to talk to her?"
Katherine nodded furiously.
"The chats were old. It wasn't just one or two. They've been talking for months-voice notes, pictures, video clips, even things only you would say. Ryan, whoever this is... they know a lot about you."
Jake finally looked unsettled.
"But how's that even possible?"
"That's what we need to find out," Ryan muttered, his voice low.
Because now it wasn't just a rumor.
It was real.
Someone had been pretending to be him-for months.
Someone had made a girl fall in love using his name.
And someone might still be out there, doing it again.
And Ryan Bosco had never felt more violated-or more determined.
phone-Siya's phone.
She held it out to Ryan.
"She must've dropped it in the rush. I didn't mean to snoop, but when I saw your name... I had to be sure."
Ryan hesitated for a second, then slowly took the phone from her.
The screen was dim, but one tap revealed the open chat window.
His name stared back at him.
Ryan Bosco.
His own pictures. His voice messages. Even one of his favorite quotes.
...........
- Evening, outside Siya's house
The sun was dipping low, casting golden shadows across the quiet street. Ryan, Lucas, and Jake stood in front of a modest two-story home with peeling white paint and a rusted gate.
Jake sighed, fidgeting with the strap of his bag.
"Do we really need to do this?" he muttered under his breath.
Lucas glanced around, an ironic smile playing on his lips.
"This just proves how small the world really is. We spent the whole day searching for Siya's house, only to find she lives two blocks away from Ryan."
Ryan rolled his eyes, arms crossed.
"I don't memorize my neighbors' addresses, Lucas. I didn't even know who she was till this morning, remember?"
Jake scoffed.
"Still can't believe someone used your identity for this. Catfishing a girl for months? That's sick."
Ryan stepped closer to the gate, jaw clenched.
"Yeah. Which is why we're here. Let's ring the bell and end this mess."
Lucas walked forward and pressed the doorbell.
Ding-dong.
They waited in silence, the tension thick around them. A dog barked somewhere in the distance. Jake shifted uncomfortably. Ryan's eyes were fixed on the door.
The curtain behind the window twitched.
The door creaked open slightly, and a young boy-about ten years old-peeked out with a half-eaten cookie in one hand. He eyed the three tall boys standing at the doorstep, his gaze stopping at Ryan.
Ryan bent a little to speak at his level.
"Hey, is Siya home?"
The boy blinked slowly, then murmured under his breath with a smirk,
"So the crackhead did find a boyfriend..."
Jake let out a snort while Lucas turned his face to hide a grin. Ryan stood still, not knowing whether to smile or be concerned.
Just then, quick footsteps echoed from inside.
"Arav! What did I say about opening the door without asking!"
As Siya remained upstairs, her younger sister opened the door wider and eyed the boys curiously.
"Siya's upstairs. What do you want?" she asked, folding her arms.
Ryan stepped forward and held out the phone.
"She left her phone behind. We came to return it."
The girl hesitated for a moment, then moved aside.
As the three boys entered the modest yet warm home, Ryan glanced around.
"Is your mom not home?" he asked casually.
"She's at work," the boy from earlier replied from the couch, still munching on something.
Jake followed up, "And your father?"
"Disappeared."
"Dead."
Both twins said it at the exact same time.
The three boys exchanged surprised glances, eyebrows raised.
The girl added nonchalantly, "We don't really know where he is. Siya and Mom say he's dead. Our relatives say he disappeared. So... pass. Now if you're done playing police...police, Siya is upstairs. You can go give her phone."
Ryan blinked at the twins, mildly impressed. Lucas mumbled, "Right. Thanks..."
Ryan still held the phone in his hand, looking unsure.
"Maybe it's better if only you go," Jake suggested.
"Yeah," Lucas agreed. "Three unknown guys barging in might freak her out more. She might feel safer if it's just you."
Ryan hesitated, then gave a short nod.
"Alright. I'll go."
As Jake and Lucas made themselves wait by the bottom of the staircase, Ryan climbed the steps slowly. He paused outside her door, then without thinking-maybe out of habit, or nerves-he turned the doorknob and pushed the door open.
The scene froze in time.
Siya stood in front of her mirror, her back to the door. Her hair was damp, clinging to her bare shoulders. She was dressed in a soft pink bra and matching panties, completely unaware of the presence behind her.
Ryan's breath caught.
A heartbeat passed-and Siya turned.
Her eyes widened in horror, her entire body tensing. A sharp gasp escaped her lips as she grabbed a towel off the chair and spun around, wrapping it tightly around herself.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" she sh
outed, voice shaking with panic and anger.
